How to Upload your PS2/PS1 games
« on: April 03, 2010, 10:47:27 PM »
This is a tutorial that I thought a lot of people looking to help PBT would find very useful.

What's needed:

- IMGBurn
- WinRAR
- DVD Burner for ripping PS2 games
- CD Burner for ripping PS1 games
- PS1/PS2 games
- Internet Connection

1. Decide what PS1/PS2 game you have that you want to upload. For this tutorial, I will use Tekken 5

2. Open up IMGBurn and click "Create image file from disc".

3. Click on where I have highlighted in the next screenshot. This will allow you to decide what directory you'd like to put your ripped PS1/PS2 game. Preferably put it somewhere where you have at least 4.7GB of free space. You also have the option to choose what format you'd like the ripped game to be, usually it's a good idea to keep it as it already is. In most cases that is .iso.

4. Now it's time to rip the game. Click on "Read", which is highlighted in the next screenshot.

5. Let the game rip. Depending on the size of the game, it may take up to 15 minutes to rip.

6. Once the game is ripped, you should end up with something like this:

(Remember, what you might end up with may not be exactly what you see in the screenshot above. If you have any doubts over what files were created from ripping your game, just post in this thread. I'll be happy to help.)

7. Okay, we have now successfully ripped our game, but this is only a quarter of what's needed to be done to successfully have your game uploaded. What you need to do now is create a folder and put the files that were ripped in it. I recommend naming the folder what the game you ripped is called. In my case, I called it "Tekken 5"

8. Now what we need to do is right-click the new folder you created with the ripped game files and click "Add to archive...". We should then get a window looking like this:

(If you have anything on your screen that looks differently, make sure you change it to look like the screenshot).

9. Once you've set everything the way it looks like in the screenshot above, click "OK". It will then begin the pack the game you ripped in parts. This is done to allow you to upload the game more easier and faster. Depending on the power of your PC and the size of the game, it may take a while. For me it took about an hour for it to completely pack, bare in mind that I'm using a low end laptop and the game is also over 4.3GB uncompressed. So an hour is usually the max time it'll take for you.

10. Once compression and packing is complete, you should end up with something looking like this:

As you can see it's been split into a number of parts. With Tekken 5, winRAR made it into 8 parts all rounding near 500MB each. Just remember though, Tekken 5 is a large size game, so in most cases it'll be rare to end up with so many parts.

11. Compressing and packing is now complete. What you've created now is what a downloader would like to see once they've downloaded your upload, but they can't download the game unless you upload the part/parts onto the internet. In this case we will be using Megaupload. Megaupload is considered to be the most reliable server when it comes to hosting our large size games. What you'll need to do now is visit Megaupload's homepage here:

http://www.megaupload.com/

The website should look something like this:

12. What you need to do now is click on "Browse". What you have to find are the parts you created. Remember, you can only upload 1 part at a time. It's a good idea to always upload in number order, for example, be sure not to upload part 3 first. Otherwise you'll get confused really quickly on what parts you've already uploaded.

13. You'll also have to add a description in the bar underneath the Browse bar. When I upload I usually put projectblacktower.org there just incase another site decides to use my links. You can put whatever you like there. Once that is done, click "Send".

You should then come up with a page that looks like this:

This means that you're part is being uploaded. Also, uploading time depends on what internet speeds you have. The faster it is, the faster the game is uploaded.

14. Once uploading is complete, a download link will appear. Click on that link and copy it into something like notepad. This is done so that you don't lose the link you just created. Typing something up like this will be good enough:

15. Once you have the links to the parts you uploaded, you are now ready to post it on ProjectBlackTower!

Hope you found this tutorial easy to understand. I think the tutorial shows the amount of work our site uploaders do to get your favourite games uploaded, so be sure to thank them and give them rep when possible.

If you have any problems understanding a step, post in this thread.

thanks alot dude. But when i make a new topic and add links? How do I add the game picture and video from youtube.

The game picture can be added like this:

1. Find the image off the net.

2. Copy the url link of that image.

3. To show that image in a post, paste that link in the post and then add "" at the end of the link. Those codes will then show an image in the forums.

4. To show a youtube image is REALLY easy! When you've found the youtube video you want to add to the post, just copy the url link and then paste it in your post. A modification here in the forum will automatically show it to us as a video. :)

Hope that helped.
